ROBERT C. PALUMBO, M.D.
After practicing eight years in the Orlando area, Dr. Palumbo
returned to his Northeast roots, bringing with him the unique experience of treating all levels of athletes and performing artists. In Orlando, he was the Orthopaedic consultant for the world famous Cirque de Soleil, The Orlando Ballet, Sea World entertainers and Disney World dancers. He is also one of the team physicians for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team and is a second-opinion physician for the NFL Players’ Association.
Dr. Palumbo concentrates on treating sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow and hip. He was nominated to the Sports Medicine Evaluation Committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and also serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. He is a frequent speaker at national meetings and has published many articles in professional journals. In addition, he heads the Sports Medicine Foundation at OAA, an organization dedicated to the continuing education of medical professionals.
To keep the public informed on Sports Medicine topics, Dr. Palumbo hosts radio and TV talk shows, including “The Sports Doc” aired every Saturday morning on the local ESPN affiliate.
Most recently, Dr. Palumbo was selected as the Medical Director for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, a AAA baseball team affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, located in Allentown.
