Job Title: Check-In/Check-Out Receptionist

Employee Type: Part-Time—10:00 am to 2:00 pm M-F

The Check-In/Check-Out Receptionist provides Patient Care Excellence by providing exceptional customer service to the customers of OAA Orthopaedic Specialists. The check in/out receptionist helps support the day to day activities of our orthopaedic facility through coordination of patient care across all specialties. The check in /out receptionist is responsible for greeting the patient and offering prompt assistance while coordinating the customers care.

Essential Functions:
  • Schedules appointments in the electronic medical record. Immediately greets and directs patients and visitors.
  • Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Completes a full accurate patient registration.
  • Verifies, updates and maintains accurate patient insurance information. Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
  • Reviews accounts of scheduled patients for balances and expired referrals and addresses with patient for resolution.
  • Collects co-payment and balances from patients and reconciles daily cash report.
  • Receives medical records requests and disability forms.
  • Records patient communications within the electronic medical record.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Some computer experience
  • Knowledge of third party insurance
  • Previous medical office experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills                      
  • Prior customer service representative experience
