OAA Orthopaedic Specialists is seeking a part-time (1 day per week) Registered Dietitian to provide clinical nutrition services to OAA patients.  As an independent contractor, this involves assessment of individual nutritional status, evaluation and recommendation of appropriate dietary interventions to improve nutritional status, and education for OAA patients. Responsible for independently implementing nutritional care to patients within established standards of practice.

Essential Functions:
  • Completes initial and follow-up nutrition assessments of patients, performs nutrition diagnosis, develops and implements individualized nutritional care plans per standards of care and documents results appropriately.
  • Responds to consults from the medical/surgical staff within 24 hours.
  • On an as needed basis, participates in appropriate patient management consults with providers.   
  • Utilize assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific populations.
  • Documents relevant, accurate, and timely information performed in steps in the Nutrition Care Process in the patient’s electronic medical record in accordance with department standards.
  • Determines continuation of care based on whether the patient has met intervention goals.
  • Individualizes materials for patient education, monitors and develops basic educational materials.
  • Interacts professionally with other healthcare professionals and is perceived as a resource on nutrition issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to patients and families, public, medical staff and physicians.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Ability to counsel and educate others.Bachelor's Degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition.  2 years of experience required. Registered Dietitian required (Commission on Dietetics Registration).
