As a member of our clinical team, the Triage Nurse position is responsible for ensuring patient
care excellence by managing tasks utilizing an electronic medical records system.  This position is responsible to perform telephone triage and respond to OAA patient portal inquiries, anticoagulant management, and will assist in additional patient care areas as needed. 

Essential Functions:
  • Interviews patients to determine medical and post-operative condition and documents appropriately in chart for physician
  • Responds to patient telephone and OAA patient portal inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient's medical problems and questions
  • EMR physician staff bucket management for physicians without a Clinical Coordinator including but not limited to:
    • Reviews physician's orders, lab requests, diagnostic studies, or follow-up needs with patient
    • Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance, physician offices and other healthcare agencies when necessary
    • Follows up with patients on lab results and diagnostic studies, including the scheduling of any additional tests or office visits
    • Anticoagulation management; review PT/INR results and determine appropriate level of medication to be administered
  • EMR physician staff bucket management when Clinical Coordinators are out of the office
  • Assists in clinical or scheduling setting as required
  • Emergency responder for on-site patient emergencies and/or issues
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Minimum of an associate degree and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • LPN or RN with current license
  • Current CPR/AED Certification a plus                
  • Two years clinical experience and/or orthopaedic background beneficial
  • Required Certifications:
    • Act 34 PA Criminal Background.
    • Act 151 PA Child Abuse History.
    • Act 114 FBI Cogent Clearance Fingerprinting.
  • Strong Computer experience, electronic medical records experience
  • Strong interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Previous medical office experience including surgical scheduling and patient education
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Uses independent judgment to manage time and tasks through to completion
  • Ability to work independently and in a positive team environment
  • Able to work an 8-hour day between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Bi-lingual Spanish skills for interpreting a plus
