Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Timothy Kummerling, DNP, CRNP is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in nonoperative treatments of pain management in acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions of the neck and back in the Spine Center for Excellence at OAA Orthopaedic Specialists. He treats cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine pain associated with; disc bulges and herniations; degenerative disc disease; sciatica; spinal stenosis; spinal arthritis; and spinal fractures. He became interested in medicine at a very young age, always wanting to help others who were sick.
Timothy is a graduate of La Salle University in Philadelphia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After completing his undergraduate degree, he worked for several years in various clinical hospital roles and non-clinical roles in the pharmaceutical industry and quality management. Seeking to grow both personally and professionally, gain further medical knowledge, and advance his clinical expertise, Timothy decided to become a Nurse Practitioner. He completed his Master of Science in Nursing and his Doctor of Nursing Practice at Duke University.
Now, focusing on pain management, he focuses on providing quality care through developing a long trusting relationship with all his patients and including them in the plan of care. He states, “What I enjoy most as a medical provider is helping my patients achieve optimal health status and improve in their overall functionality, this is why I am here”.
Timothy follows the advice he gives his patients and focuses his overall health on weight reduction and maintenance, exercise, and a heart-healthy diet consisting of mainly fruits and vegetables. He states that there are many chronic health conditions that can be controlled through diet, physical exercise, and stress reduction through yoga or meditation.
Timothy enjoys spending his free time with his wife and children. They enjoy going on outdoor walks, fishing, dining out, making meals together, and vacationing in the Outer Banks, NC or Ocean City, MD.
