Robert E. Wertz, II, MD, Now Offering Regenerative Therapy

July 08, 2019

(Allentown, PA, July 8, 2019--)  OAA Orthopaedic Specialists, the preferred choice of the Lehigh Valley for comprehensive orthopaedic care, announced that Robert E. Wertz, II, MD of OAA’s Pain Management Specialty now offers regenerative therapy as an affiliate of Bluetail Medical Group, a nationally renowned practice devoted to the advancement of regenerative medicine.

Dr. Wertz completed his training in May 2019 with Bluetail Medical Group in St. Louis, MO. He is now offering two regenerative medicine treatment options: Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Therapy. These treatment options are being implemented by Dr. Wertz to help treat chronic neck and back pain due to arthritis or degenerative conditions.

PRP therapy is a non-operative regenerative treatment option that uses components of the patient’s own blood cells to help relieve pain and accelerate healing. Blood is drawn and then placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. The platelets are then injected back into the patient in the targeted area.

Stem cell therapy is a regenerative medicine treatment option that uses the body’s stem cells from bone marrow to help relieve pain and accelerate healing. Stem cells are extracted from your own body’s bone marrow and injected into areas with damaged tissue to enhance the body’s natural healing process.

As a fellowship-trained pain management physician, Dr. Wertz strives to help his patients overcome their acute and chronic pain and improve their quality of life. Throughout his 23 years in practice, Dr. Wertz has made clinical research and advancing treatment options for his patients a top priority. He continues to bring cutting-edge treatments to the patients for whom he cares.

“Regenerative treatments are now an option for patients who don’t respond well to other therapies and I’m excited to offer them to my patients with chronic pain. Using the body’s own healing ability to treat arthritis in the spine is a novel approach to treating pain and a good alternative to medications and steroid-containing injections for many patients.”
