FAQs on Spinal Care:

What spinal conditions can your team treat?

Your spine is an incredibly hard-working part of your body, and therefore is susceptible to a great number of conditions and injuries. Some of the most common conditions we treat at OAA include:

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Facet joint syndrome
  • Herniated discs
  • Stress fractures
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Sciatica
  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Scoliosis (curvature of the spine)
  • Kyphosis (rounded back)
  • Spinal tumors (chordoma)

Can your spinal care specialists perform surgery?

At OAA’s Spine Center of Excellence, we will pursue every non-invasive avenue we can to treat your condition. However, if all other therapies have been exhausted and surgery seems to be the best options, you could not be in better hands for your procedure than with the experienced specialists at OAA.

What cutting-edge spinal care techniques do you offer?

OAA’s Spine Center of Excellence is proud to be the first spine center in the Lehigh Valley region to successfully perform lumbar artificial disc replacement surgery, as well as cervical disc replacement surgery. We are also leaders in the use of cutting-edge surgical techniques such as:

  • Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF), a minimally-invasive procedure during which your surgeon will reach your spine through the side of your body.
  • X-Stop Interspinous Process Decompression (IPD), during which your surgeon will insert a titanium implant into your lumbar spine to treat spinal stenosis.

What makes OAA’s Spine Center of Excellence unique?

Along with our minimally-invasive, cutting-edge approach to spine care, the spinal surgeons at OAA are actively involved in developing new techniques through data collection, medical research and clinical trials. We also participate in seminars, lectures and presentations to share our knowledge with other surgeons and medical professionals.
